Interview: Silke, application software developer
Hello Silke, please introduce yourself briefly.
I was born and raised near Cologne, Germany. After graduating from high school, I moved to Munich for my Bachelor's and Master's degrees in Electrical Engineering and Information Technology at the Technical University of Munich. After my studies, I started at SysTec as an application software developer. In this role, my tasks include writing software for customer-specific applications, maintaining our standard software and giving technical support to our clients.
How was your start at SysTec?
At first, the field of weighing technology was completely new to me, and I had a lot of new things to learn. As an in-depth understanding of our customers' applications is very important for the development of application software, I was given a lot of time to familiarize myself with them. During this time, I was always able to count on my team’s support. I also had the opportunity to visit every department during my start in order to get to know my colleagues and the company better.
What should applicants bring with them to be successful in your job?
Besides programming skills, communication is the most important thing in our job. The many different areas of application require a full understanding of the tasks. This is the basis for a successful realization of customer needs. Technical understanding is also very helpful in our field.
How would you describe the interaction within the team?
We have a very collegial atmosphere. We consider ourselves as a team and work accordingly. If someone has a question or is stuck with a problem, help is always within reach.
In what way is working at SysTec something special for you?
Working as an application software developer is a very varied job. Each new project brings new challenges. One of the most exciting tasks is commissioning at our customers' sites. Here, we gain a good insight into production and experience industrial processes at first hand. Thanks to the interesting scope of duties and the pleasant working atmosphere in the SysTec team, I feel very comfortable in the company.
